What a fantastic few days! We had some great visits for freshman on the 11th and 16th from Michelle Ziogas, a librarian from the New Haven Free Public Library. She stopped by The Sound Library Media Center to share all the cool NHFPL electronic resources available to students and distribute new NHFPL library cards. This collaboration between the Sound School Library Media Center and the New Haven Free Public Library is all about giving our students access to a world of information, from e-books and audiobooks to research databases and more. With their new cards, students can now explore a vast digital collection for free, right from their phones or laptops. A huge thank you to Michelle for her time and for helping our students get connected! #TheSoundSchool #NHFPL #LibraryPartnership #SoundLMC #NewHaven Hello and welcome back, students! I hope you all had a restful and fun summer. Whether you traveled, worked a summer job, or just enjoyed some downtime, I’m excited to see your faces back in the hallways and, of course, in the library! A new school year means fresh opportunities, new friendships, and a chance to dive into stories that expand our minds and spark our imaginations. As your school library media specialist, my goal is to help you find books that inspire, challenge, inform and entertain you. Whether you're into mysteries, graphic novels, science fiction, or nonfiction that digs deep into real-world issues, there’s something here for everyone. Speaking of great reads… have you checked out Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir yet? This one is a must-read. From the author of The Martian, this science fiction novel delivers edge-of-your-seat suspense, unexpected humor, and one of the most unique friendships I’ve ever read about. It’s the story of a lone astronaut who wakes up with no memory of who he is or why he’s in space—only to discover he might be humanity’s last hope. Even if sci-fi isn't usually your thing, give this one a shot. It's packed with clever problem-solving, fascinating science, and a surprising amount of heart. Stop by the library to borrow a copy (remember to call down first!) —or just come in to say hi, browse the shelves, or ask for a recommendation tailored to you. I'm always here to help you find your next favorite book. Here’s to a great year ahead—filled with curiosity, creativity, and (hopefully) some unforgettable stories. See you in the library!
